Personal Data Protection (GDPR) & Internet Law

The evolution of technology has highlighted information into a huge economic and cultural value. However, the massive dissemination of information to modern society jeopardizes the constitutional rights of citizens, and also the financial interest for collecting, processing, transmitting information and providing information and communication technology products. IT law is a new and extremely dynamic branch of legal science, which aims to address the problems arising from the use of information and communication technologies. In the relevant area, modern legal goods have appeared, such as software, databases, multimedia, brand registration on the internet, providing access to it, etc., which mainly concern the management of information.

The most catalytic pertinent legislative development is the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679), which came into force on 25 May 2018, with the aim of forming a modern legal framework, which will be able to tackle the modern challenges of protecting privacy as a freedom, from monitoring and recording, in the context of rapid technological developments and the globalization of both economic and social and digital networks.
